Sri Lanka’s coastline is one of the world’s most important nesting grounds for five species of sea turtle, including the endangered leatherback, and our turtle conservation experiences offer travellers an opportunity to engage directly with protection efforts. We partner with responsible coastal hatcheries and community conservation programmes that rescue and incubate endangered eggs, monitor nesting beaches, and release hatchlings into the ocean under careful supervision. Educational sessions led by conservation professionals provide deep insights into the global threats facing sea turtles and the specific work underway on Sri Lanka’s shores. These experiences are available at dusk and dawn during nesting and hatching seasons, and combine the thrill of witnessing new life with a meaningful contribution to conservation.
