The waters around Sri Lanka conceal an underwater world of beauty, vibrant coral gardens, dramatic shipwrecks, tropical reef fish in every colour of the spectrum, and gentle reef sharks cruising shallow passages. Pigeon Island off Nilaveli on the east coast is a protected marine sanctuary with exceptional snorkelling accessible to complete beginners, while the reefs off Hikkaduwa, Mirissa and Bar Reef at Kalpitiya reward more experienced snorkellers and divers with encounters that include sea turtles, rays, and moray eels. Our scuba diving excursions are led by certified PADI instructors who offer both introductory dives for first-timers and guided speciality dives for advanced certifications. The best diving conditions on the south-west coast run from November to April, and on the east coast from May to September.
