Drifting above the Sri Lankan landscape at first light in a hot air balloon is one of the most serene, breathtaking ways to encounter the island from a perspective almost no one else ever achieves. Our balloon experiences launch from the Cultural Triangle region at dawn, rising above the treetops to reveal ancient rock fortresses, shimmering man-made lakes, jungle canopies, and the distant outlines of highland mountains in the morning haze. The silence and stillness of balloon flight over this landscape is magical, a floating meditation above one of Asia’s most historically rich landscapes. Flights last approximately one hour and are followed by a traditional champagne celebration on landing. Available year-round, though the clearest conditions are typically between December and April.
