Udawalawe National Park is the finest destination for wild elephant encounters. The open grasslands, scrub, and reservoir edges support a population of over 500 elephants, visible year-round in large herds that gather at the water’s edge in the morning and evening. Birdlife is also extraordinary, with painted storks, bee-eaters and raptors filling the skies.
